i just noticed yesterday that in {april} i posted some pictures that i had already put on here...oh well!  can you tell it has been a REALLY long time?

several people have said they thought i was done with the blog thing...i was...sort of.  i never canceled it because i knew it was a good way to journal what our family has been up to.  if it wasn't for that little voice in my head i would have canceled it a long time ago.

may is always a busy month for us.  school gets out, school programs, dance recitals, mother's day, memorial day, kathryn's birthday and at the very beginning of june is reese's birthday and our anniversary...lot's to share!

we went camping and it rained like crazy!  our poor friends stacie and darren had a lot of water in their tent.

the kids had a blast with their friends.

 kathryn had her dance recital.  she danced in two dances; "koala bear hug" and "hard knock life".  for some reason i don't have any pictures of her in the "hard knock" costume.  all the dancers were dressed like little orphans...it was really cute.

we went to the zoo with kathryn's preschool.  here they are with miss amy, kathryn's teacher.  we LOVE miss amy!

we had a party with her friends...i was alone with a houseful of 4 year olds...never again!

dave had to work late so he met us at costco for dinner...kathryn's choice of course.  later that night we had cake!

we had a huge snowstorm on easter day:

 we took a family vacation to southern california with grandma and grandpa l.

we waited 2 hours in line to meet the princesses.  reese was quite the ladies man and kathryn was super shy.  in this picture reese is telling mulan that he is pals with general shang:

i was told that i need to update my blog...can't argue with that!  for some reason the thought of doing a blog post has not appealed to me for months; it feels like a chore.  i had to remind myself that this really is a type of journal and i need to continue it.

our family would like to thank you for the job security you are providing us and our friends at the MDA.  the new administration had us a little concerned but you have changed all that.  for your kindess we have added you to our christmas card list.

let me just say that i know the yellow chairs are ugly...one day when i get up the nerve to recover them myself they will look rad.  yes, i just said rad...it's making a comeback.

i have realized that between may 6th and june 6th are the busiest days for our family...every year.

• dance recitals and rehearsals
• school programs
• kathryn's birthday
• reese's birthday
• our anniversary
• zoo days
• memorial day
• mother's day

add to that:

• trek bonnets
• quilt block exchange
• father's and sons campout
• master's degree finals
• hair clients & prom up-do's
• happy birthday banner...i am determined to finish it before the 21st.
• trek meetings
• square dancing tutorials (see above)
• a yard that is in major need of an overhaul
• dentist appointments...what was i thinking 6 months ago?

not to mention the fact that my family still needs to be fed, my housework still needs to be done and i have to sleep at some point.

i'm tired already.

dear mom,

i did it, not just once but twice!  did you ever think that i, your uncrafty daughter would be the one with empty spools of thread?  now that's a lot of sewing...over 2000 yards of thread in the past year.  you have tried for years to pass along your passion for sewing and stuff.  i caught the bug. 

thanks for finishing many of my projects over the past several years...because i was in tears and couldn't figure out what i had done wrong.  the mess -up on kathryn's baby quilt still has me baffled...it seems so simple now.

i think i'll make necklaces out of my empty spools...maybe i'll sell them on etsy.

1.  did you know homemade kites are cool?

 

2.  did you know snow angels are fun no matter how old you are?

 

3.  did you know that if you have ever had the chicken pox you can get shingles?

4.  did you know that shingles are incredibly painful?

5.  did you know that the chicken pox vaccine isn't a 100% guarantee?

6.  did you know that if you have shingles you can give the chicken pox to one of your kids?

7.  did you know that your child will keep saying, "mom, you gave me chicken pox...that's not very nice!"

8.  did you know that if you don't charge the battery in your camera you only get a few pictures taken of your trip to utah...because the new camera has a special battery and charger that happens to be in another state?  at least you captured the kids "roasting marshmallows" with grandma losser.

 

9.  did you know that having a sleepover with your cousins is the best thing ever?

10.  did you know that playing with grandparents and cousins puts a smile on any childs face?

11.  did you know that mom can drive back to colorado by herself with two kids in 10 hours...including stops?  god bless the portable dvd player.

12.  did you know that father's and son's outings are priceless?

 

 

13.  did you know there is nothing wrong with wearing your sisters ruby slippers?

 

14.  and last but not least...did you know (or forget) how badly strep feels?  if you would like a reminder just let me know.

if you do happen to get sick in the near future...hopefully when you tell your husband that you think you're really sick he will believe you BEFORE your temp gets to 104...prompting the best april fool's day i have ever had.  more on that another day.

this is going to be a lengthy update of what we've been doing for the past several weeks.  if you get bored you can try singing it to the tune of "mary did you know"...good luck with that.

1. did you know that you can get permanent marker off the counter tops...it just takes the nice shiny finish off.

 

2.  did you know that raw rice and sugar taste good mixed together?  who knew!

 

3.  did you know it's always nice to cuddle?

 

4.  did you know that learning you have enough money to buy a barbie is pretty exciting?

 

5.  did you know that yelling "GOOO UTES!" can quickly make you grandpa packer's favorite grandson?  however, it does not make you immune to chapped lips...damn colorado.

 

6.  did you know that homemade bread is REALLY good and surprisingly easy?

 

7.  did you know that naps our becoming a rare occurance in our house?  a moment of silence please....

 

8.  did you know that bibs are still cool?  everybody's doing it!

 

9.  did you know that twister ROCKS...even if you have no idea how to play?

 

10.  did you know that painting is fun...but not as much fun as lining your toys up all over the house...see background.
